Are We Oversharing With Artificial Intelligence?
Many of us are recklessly sharing with AI without considering the damaging consequences.
CONSTRUCTION BLOGS

We are all adopting Artificial Intelligence in one way or another…
Which is good for individuals and organizations.
But we should also be mindful when sharing our data with it.
AI should be like a secretary who knows how, when, and where to set appointments…
But not when, how, and where we will meet our family, friends, or close ones.
Let me share a scenario…
The construction industry is slowly adopting AI because overall operations are very complex and require intensive human intervention.
I have seen engineers and architects taking design support from AI.
They are asking for scenarios… drafting plans… even developing structural and MEP concepts.
It looks efficient and perfect.
Let’s say construction begins and ends as suggested by AI.
Everything is completed successfully.
The building looks elegant… customers are happy to pre-book… the sales team is excited about increased sales.
At the end of the project, the client asks the contractor to hand over the Issued for Construction drawings so that no one can copy them.
The contractor complies.
But was the contractor the only one who had them?
No… there was an invisible third party whose help was taken but whose existence was never acknowledged.
That AI application may still hold sensitive design data of the building.
If such data falls into the wrong hands, someone could know every critical corner of the structure…
They could understand where to disrupt systems… where cameras are installed… where entry and exit points exist.
Just imagine, a party that is not contractually bound may know everything about what we have built.
And the worst part, the data may be stored in a foreign land.
In case of any political or security disruption, even a well-planned structure can face risks.
This is not a naïve concern.
It is happening daily.
People upload renovation layouts… paint selections… furniture plans… and sensitive project information without realizing the potential privacy and security implications.
So what is the solution?
Wake up. Take this seriously.
Partner with AI like a professional assistant, not as a replacement for human judgment.
Maintain necessary boundaries and use it only where it truly adds value.
Do not treat it as mere fun… otherwise one day privacy and security breaches may turn the situation against you.
